Our story

A dynamic company, always on the move, reflecting its founder.

Through these key dates and events, it is clear that, despite today's crises and challenges, our company continues to adapt and carve its own path with determination and resilience.

2011
The birth of FR Team International.

The birth of FR Team International.

Although François's passion and expertise in diagnostic tools and coding began long before this date, it was in April 2011 that FR Team International officially opened its doors in Luxembourg. Driven by the ambition to meet the growing needs of the automotive sector, FR Team set out to create innovative tools and services specifically designed for automotive professionals in B2B.

2012
The CANbus and the launch of the ECUx

The CANbus and the launch of the ECUx

In 2012, we began developing the ECUx, an electronic device that interacts with CAN bus data and the engine control unit. Unlike additional boxes that connect to the engine sensors, the ECUx connects directly to the engine control unit (ECU) and can be updated via the OBDII diagnostic port, making installation and use easier. Following a two-year research and development program, FR Team developed this innovative device which presented a real technological breakthrough compared to existing solutions. This device also marked an important step in the development of our expertise in automotive electronics and communication with engine control units.

2013
Collaboration with the equipment supplier Milltek.

Collaboration with the equipment supplier Milltek.

Always driven by our desire to innovate, in 2013 we partnered with renowned equipment supplier Milltek to develop an active exhaust valve solution integrated into the vehicle's CAN network. The solution enabled the exhaust valve actuators to be operated from the steering wheel controls via the vehicle's CAN network. This project, while complex, was made possible by our expertise in CAN networks, developed during the creation of the ECUx. The technical challenge was to understand communication across the vehicle's different CAN networks and integrate actuator control using our expertise in embedded electronics.

2014
European Patent.

European Patent.

Building on our successes, we saw the potential in our CANbus technology. In 2014, we filed a European patent (EP 2957 752 B1) to protect an engine control device. This additional engine control device includes a microcontroller, a memory, an interface for connecting to a computer bus, an analog input and an analog output. The analog input, connected to a probe, sends signals to the microcontroller via an analog-to-digital converter. The analog output, connected to the motor control unit, receives the corrected signals from the microcontroller via a digital-to-analog converter. The microcontroller senses data from the bus, applies a correction based on a memory map, and outputs a corrected signal.

2015
R&D on engine control units.

R&D on engine control units.

Following the development of the ECUx, we expanded our research to other applications of automotive electronics. In 2015, we focused on a new challenge: engine control unit (ECU) repair. Repair may require data to be transferred from a damaged ECU to a compatible replacement unit, presenting technical challenges relating to data access and integrity. This is the moment we launched our AutoTuner research & development program. Our research program focused on communication protocols and methods of accessing the data needed for ECU repair. This work strengthened our expertise in data recovery and transfer for the electronic repair of engine control units.

2017
Launch of AutoTuner.

Launch of AutoTuner.

In 2017, after two years of intensive research and development, we launched AutoTuner, an innovative software solution that quickly gained the trust of automotive calibration and repair professionals worldwide. AutoTuner is the first software to allow reading and writing on next-generation ECUs, providing fast and secure access to engine control units (ECU). Developed in a context of technological uncertainty, where no solution existed for these new ECUs, AutoTuner represents a major technological breakthrough. Thanks to methodologies developed internally, we overcame technical challenges and created a unique software solution on the market, offering unprecedented reading capabilities and a unique ability to adapt to future developments in engine computers and communication protocols. Thanks to the technology developed by FR Team under its research and development program, we were able to offer with AutoTuner a unique technological solution, ultra-fast, intuitive, reliable without subscription fees.

2021
A decisive strategic change.

A decisive strategic change.

In 2021, FR Team is entering a decisive turning point, both in terms of its shareholding and its strategy. François, founder and now majority shareholder, wishes to breathe new life into the company by refocusing its activities. FR TEAM is entering a new era with an expanded range of AutoTuner tools, bringing together diverse products and services for diagnostics and ECU calibration. This strategic repositioning marks a key step in the evolution of FR Team, affirming its leadership in a constantly evolving sector and strengthening its ability to anticipate the needs of tomorrow.

2025
AT One.

AT One.

2025 marks a major turning point for FR TEAM with the launch of the AT One, an innovative B2B2C product that redefines how automotive calibration professionals interact with their customers. Designed as a bridge between professionals and end users, the AT One offers a new experience combining simplicity, connectivity and remote support. The AT One is a Wi-Fi- and Bluetooth-connected OBDII device designed to enable professionals to provide ECU calibration services to their customers remotely. Using an intuitive mobile app, the end user can read and write their vehicle’s ECU data while communicating with their calibration specialist through a secure cloud platform.

This innovation opens up new possibilities for remote ECU calibration services. Professionals can offer and manage calibration services remotely, while customers benefit from a simple interface for exchanging the data needed for the service.
